Montagu

Montagu is a small scenic farming and resort town in the Little Karoo. Montagu was established in the fertile valley of the typical Klein Karoo landscape and is world famous for its healing hot mineral springs, muscadel wine, exquisite scenery, many well-preserved historical buildings and its friendly people. It is an important fruit-growing region, producing apricots, peaches, apples and pears. Montagu is the gateway to the Little Karoo and also the scenic heart of Route 62. Centrally situated between Cape Town and Oudtshoorn, Montegu nestles in the western corner of Kannaland. A unique rural atmosphere distinguishes Montegu as one on the best-preserved late Victorian agricultural villages in the Cape.
  • Cogman's Kloof - The road linking the Breede River Valley with the Klein Karoo makes its way through Cogman's kloof, a winding 10km pass built by renowned road engineer, Thomas Bain, in 1877.
